Join hosts Kenna Burima and Eddy Robinson as they delve into the intersections of money and creativity. The evening features an incredible line up of artists sharing how money, creativity and art intersect.
Priscilla Cherry is a vibrant soul born of Trinidadian and French-Canadian roots. A social artist, broadcaster, and peer support specialist, Priscilla is driven by the absence of her own reflection in media and transforms her lived experience into purpose. She’s excited to unpack how capitalist systems need to be faced, explored and engaged with to bring about change.
Mike Tan lights up every room he walks into room. Rooms like Downstage, Theatre Junction, and Ghost River Theatre, The Banff Centre Playwrights Lab, Vertigo Theatre, Alberta Theatre Projects, and Theatre Calgary have all benefited from his shine. As an artist who wears multiple hats and is keen for all his artist friends to succeed, he's keen to talk about whhhhhhhhyyyyyyy money? Why?
Jason Patrick Rothery is an Alberta-based writer, theatre artist, and lapsed academic. He’s a scary smart one who’s written multiple books, theatrical productions and collaborative creations that have toured across Canada and the U.S. He’s got some thoughts on funding models that facilitate artists facing hard truths of how we diminish our worth when interfacing with the very systems necessary for bringing our creations to life.
“Working with Kenna helped me take my music from a fleeting idea, to reality. In fact, I completed more creatively in the last year than I did in the previous 37. Most importantly, I’ve gained the courage to share my art with the world, and give it the life it deserves.”
